teaching children foreign languages
I would like to teach prodigy children do i need any special training or just a masters?
I want to teach music, foreign languages, and literature to young prodigies. What kind of training do I need other than what is required to teach normal children?
I live in Illinois if that can help anyone with more specific answers
I’m a teacher and I’ve met and taught plenty of gifted children. Please, for your sake and the sake of the children you will be teaching take plenty of courses in exceptional education. Gifted children and prodigies have social and emotional problems unlike any of those that their “normal” peers have. I have gifted students who throw fits and sit under their desks for long periods of time. I’ve seen gifted children who just have tremendous outbursts at any given time and start screaming at everyone. I did not take extra courses in exceptional education so I have to go to our school expert often and ask for her advice and opion on certain situations. For your own piece of mind and the benefit of your students read plenty about gifted students emotional health and take more ex. ed. classes. Good luck!
