teaching children use computer

I’d like to teach my 12 year old child to program a computer. What would you recommend?
I don’t really know if languages today are easier or harder than what I learned on (Fortran, Basic, C). Are there high level language that might interest a child, and then as they get older they can move to the “real” thing? I’d love to get him started on simple apps to learn how it all works and grow from here.
Hi
I’m only 14 and find that c# is a nice language to use. If you think this may be a to advanced you could let him use either KPL or phrogram these are very good languages for children.

If you would like him to talk to someone about programming and get him some sample apps that he can mess with and pick up the languages. Feel free to contact me.
How are we preparing children for jobs that do not exist yet? 2 year old.
